I spent the entire day re-cutting Céline. Some ideas worked but most didn’t. I guess I should move on and work on something new. Feel like everyone around me is sick of this film.
In the evening I went to Close-Up Cinema with some friends to see four shorts by Jonas Mekas (1) : Scenes From the Life of Andy Warhol (1990), Scenes From the Life of George Maciunas (1992), Happy Birthday to John (1996) and This Side of Paradise (1999). The first three were fascinating. Some parts are still playing in my head. What a privilege to see such beautiful work on a big screen. By the time it was the fourth film, I was exhausted so couldn’t really enjoy. I think Close-Up programmer made a mistake putting all these four shorts one after the other. I doubt if Jonas Mekas ever saw them like we did.
